Legoland

On New Year's Eve we spent a quiet evening indoors snacking and playing games
with Julie, Darrin, and Audrey.

Yesterday we rang in the new year with a trip down to Carlsbad with Gammy and Uncle Aaron for a day at Legoland!  Josh, Avery and I had never been before.

And we definitely lucked out - the weather was perfect and the park wasn't crowded.

We decided to try Avery on a boat cruise first to see how she would do with the rides,
as this was her first experience at an amusement park.

We sure saw some AMAZING things made entirely out of tiny legos!

Sydney Opera House:

The Taj Mahal:

San Francisco:

Las Vegas:

Mount Rushmore:

Even New York City!

After a successful cruise, Uncle Aaron took her for a train ride.

Then we went on another boat ride...

After that, we felt that Avery was ready for something a little faster.
So we upgraded her to a plane ride!

Followed by this freefall bouncy ride...
(Turns out she is quite the daredevil -- very brave, and unafraid of any ride!)

After the Beetle Bounce, Uncle Aaron took her on this giant slide.  Upon getting to the top he discovered he could not sit behind her, as each person has to sit on their own section of the slide. So she went down all by herself (as the rest of us held our breath and watched from below)....And of course she loved it!

Toward the end of the day, we went on a dark ride where you shoot at targets in the dark with laser guns.  That was the only ride we had to wait in a little line for. But Avery was an angel; she kept herself occupied playing hide and go seek along the wall.

A few more shots from the day...

We closed out our awesome day with a helicopter ride...

And one last plane ride with Daddy!

Happy 2012!
